Abstract

A new category of property crime—corporate, property, and land raiding—is flourishing in post-Soviet space. This is not just a new type of crime, but an entirely new phenomenon that has spilled over from Moscow to other regions in Russia and other former Soviet republics. Western media have estimated the total number of raiding attacks in Russia at an astronomical seventy thousand cases per year (Harding 2008).
