Abstract

Книга Марии Пироговской посвящена исследованию социальных факторов, определивших восприятие запахов и обонятельные нормы в российском обществе конца XIX – начала XX века. Пироговская на основании большого количества документов показала, как менялась социальная конфигурация чувствительности и почему чувство обоняния оказалось выдвинуто в публичное пространство, а различные запахи стали интерпретироваться как социальные факты. Книга представляет читателю взгляд социального ученого на то, как запахи организуют повседневные практики и обусловливают формирование институтов.
