Книга Марион Фуркад, вышедшая в престижной серии Princeton studies in cultural sociology, немедленно удостоилась самых восторженных отзывов именитых коллег. Экономсоциолог Фрэнк Доббин назвал книгу «шедевром», обнаруживающим «глубокое понимание институциональных различий между Британией, Францией и Соединенными Штатами». Лауреат Нобелевской премии по экономике Джордж Акерлоф охарактеризовал ее как «революционную книгу», ставшую «откровением для экономистов». Кроме того, в 2011 году «Экономисты и общества» удостоилась премии за выдающееся научное исследование Американской Социологической Ассоциации (ASA Distinguished Scholarly Book Award) и ряда других престижных премий.
