Abstract
It might seem that the question of the sacred, in its broad academic and philosophical sense, had ceased to interest scholars back in the last century, becoming confined to more specialized fields, primarily religious studies. Yet the inquiry is now acquiring ever-new dimensions: Scholars are examining the meanings that the concept carries, the historical genealogy of the sacred, and its material, spatial, and virtual (digital) forms.
